Last week's Anatomy Studies. Check 'em, Wreck 'em!

I really like the two male studies, tho the values need to be pushed further. The master copy is okay but needs to be further refined and completed.

Z-Brush Anatomy Turntable - High Res

Z-Brush Anatomy Turntable - Framed High Res

Z-Brush Anatomy Turntable - Low Res

More Z-Brush Goodness!!!

Another day and more progress on my Z--Brush model. I am uploading a couple of turntables as well as an image with various views. Image is above, Videos will be posted separately thereafter.

Fun Times at Z-Brush High.

Not sure how I feel about Z-Brush yet. Yeah, it is a highly powerful tool, but at the moment I am not super comfortable with it. I am liking how things are looking so far tho. This is about 3 days of work, maybe 5 hours or so a day.

Master copies. This will take a lot more practice!

I believe both of these images were originally drawn by Raphael. The assignment was to copy them as closely as possible to the originals. I like the Module 7 piece. The module 6 piece is out of proportion and bunched together due to my paper size and poor planning. Better luck next time I guess.

Nude Doods... the life of an artist... apparently.

Some of my latest anatomy class work. The module 7 images were completed over several hours. The module 6 images were completed at about 4 minutes each which is the actual time limit the instructor asks us to complete the pieces at.

I am really digging the module 7 pieces! While the module 6 pieces aren't as finished I dig em for how little time they were completed in.

Latest studies from the anatomy class.

All portraits this week. I think there are definitely some weak points throughout these pieces but hey, all I an do is work to get better. I really feel my use of value is getting better... so I am pleased about that. Although, my self portrait could be pushed into darker values along the core shadows.

I "Figure" I would show this one off too...

Okay, okay, last bad joke. This is my favorite study of the week. Still need to improve a lot but I like it none the less.

Keeping you at arms length...

Oh yeah, I got more! I dig this study but I am still learning how to manipulate dry media. I wish I was naturally awesome with them... alas, I am not.

Patrick

Give me a hand...

Ok, bad joke? I am not really liking this hand skeleton study and will probably take another shot at it soon.

Some more work from last weeks anatomy assignments.

A study of the pelvic region. I enjoyed working on this piece. I think I will probably work on more studies of these shapes to better express them in my figurative drawing.

Patrick

Some work from last weeks anatomy assignments.

About an hour or so study of the rib cage. I think I will do more studies of the spine and ribs. I found this study to be particularly difficult as there are so many bones and shapes to keep track of visually.

Patrick

And the last one.

Last of this weeks work in the anatomy class. For the most part I am pleased with this drawing, being that it is the first study of the human foot (skeleton) I have ever done. It is lacking some accuracy and the big toe seems flat to me.

Patrick

And another!

Yet more anatomy work. This week was spent on skeletal studies mostly. I liked working on this piece, however, the reference image was a bit low in resolution and some details were lost to me. Over all I was pleased with this rendering, however, the lower right leg (left side of image) bothers me. I think I implied a shape that isn't actually there.

Patrick

And another!

More anatomy work. I am pleased with how this piece turned out. I should have put more detail into the feet, however, I was working on too small a page. I also don't care for how I rendered the penis, it's off from the reference image... mostly cause I didn't really feel like staring at it for an unnecessary amount of time :)

Patrick

More work from the Anatomy class!

Here is some of my latest anatomy work. I didn't impress myself with this piece. It needs further refinement. I may take another shot at it.

Blocking Progress Turntable.

Here is the current progress turntable.

Patrick

Almost ready for export to Z-Brush.

Here are the orthographic views of my blocked model for Organic Modeling. There are some minor changes throughout the model in contrast to last weeks progress. Ill be uploading a turntable momentarily also.

And the last one.

And another!

Annnd more!

Another piece.

More anatomy class work.

I feel like the following pieces are better than last weeks but still lacking a particular amount of structure. I am picking up a few new techniques that should help me construct my figure better which should help in my up coming exercises.

So I finished blocking the model for my Organic Modeling anatomy study. Time to take it into Z Brush now. Should be interesting... in the mean time here is a turntable of the guy!

Off to a good start...

Ok, it's the first day of class and I am nearly done with much of the blocking for the Human model we will be exporting out to Z-Brush. Here is the work so far. I also read through this weeks module already. Once I take the quiz, Ill be done with that class for the week. Yeah, son!

First day of the semester.

Well, wish me luck. Its the first day of my 3rd semester. It already feels like I am going to have quite a bit on my plate, however, being the motivated individual I am I think I will manage to do just fine this semester. In fact, I think I will do better than my last semester.

It looks like I will have some great instructors and classmates. I will be coming out of this semester with a deeper understanding of 3D Modeling, Anatomy and a much more broad perspective on Art in General.

Alright, that's all for now.

Holding patterns... suck.

Well, I start class on Feb, 1st! I am stoked about that! I will be taking Anatomy, Organic Modeling and Renaissance Art World & It's Classical Origins as well as auditing a class (or two) at Collins (where I completed my undergrad work). Needless to say, I'll be a busy bastard this semester! I am still waiting to hear something from these free hosting sites so I can get my landing page up so I am pretty much stuck in terms of marketing myself at the moment. Hence the holding pattern subject.

On a non-holding pattern note: I am getting a good amount of script reading done and tomorrow I should get all of my class media downloaded. Now all I need to do is get some production knocked out before class starts and I will feel nice and accomplished heading into this semester.

Alright, that's all for now.

Langind page for my web site!!!

So, I have the landing page for my website designed but I have no where to host the blasted thing!!!! So far I am signed up for two free hosting sites but they take up to 48 hours to process your order. So, since I can't get the sight up just yet, here is a peak at the landing page. I like it, simple, straight forward.

Today... Photography

Spent some more time unpacking today and then headed up here to edit some of this past year's photography. I should be updating my Deviant Art and facebook soon with a bunch of new photos. And yes, the above picture is one bum (kind of sober) teaching another (wasted) Martial Arts.

Another busy day. This, I like.

So, today we got all of our belongings from the movers. Some things were a little more scratched, dented or broken than they were when we left them in their care. So, we will be filing a claim. Aside from that, it's been a pretty good day. Have spent the few past hours working on my blog template (I am going to spruce up this template with some of my own graphics.) and updating my poor, neglected deviant art (Hop on over to http://derranged03.deviantart.com/ to see various bits of my work, newer and older.). Today I whipped out a little Deviant ID. This is what I came up with.

Okay, I think it's time to head back to the house for some unpacking and blind hanging.

Back option #2
Back option #1
Another front option.

Busy is Good.

So, I have been busily working on getting my business cards, blogs and website up and running. Since being back in Phoenix I have spent every day at my favorite coffee shop working to this end. What are the fruits of this labor? Well, I finished up my Letter head. and am pretty close to finalizing my business card design. The Business card designs are as follows. The first two are options for the front of the card and the last two are options for the back of the card. So far, I'm digging it.

Moved, Now to settle.

So, we got moved from the SF Bay area to Tempe, Arizona. Definitely glad to be back here. Currently I am sitting at my favorite coffee shop, just around the corner from our new house. We are still waiting for all of our stuff to make it down here from CA so at the moment I am confined to my laptop with no real ability to work on anything but projects on it. I did bring some drawing supplies with me so I will probably work on some illustrations as well. At the moment, however, I am finishing up my business cards.

That's all for now, more to come soon!
